The name chakra comes from the Sanskrit word for "wheel" or "turning". In Hindu metaphysical, tantric & yogic traditions the chakras are points or knots in the subtle body, not the physical body. They are at the meeting points of the subtle (non-physical) energy channels, called nadiis through which the life force (prana), or vital energy moves. There are many chakras in the body. However, there are seven chakras which are considered the most vital.
